"Autism is the 3rd most common developmental disability in the United States, striking approximately 1 in 150 children each year. Autism knows no racial, ethnic or socioeconomic boundaries and affects approximately 45,000 people in Ohio alone. Autism is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain. The exact cause of the disorder is unknown in most cases. Autism is a spectrum disorder. Individuals present a varied set of issues and require differing levels of assistance."
